$15,000 - underwrites two professional Shakespeare performances for audiences that have no access to live theater, such as incarcerated youth at Alameda County Juvenile Detention Center and homeless memebers of the Berkeley Food and Housing Project.
$10,000 - allows Cal Shakes Teaching Artists to engage 150 at-risk Oakland students in five middles school classrooms in a ten-week Shakespeare residency that helps achieve California State Teaching Standards.
$5,000 - supports a 10-week Cal Shakes residency for Richmond youth at Richmond Artists With Talent (RAW Talent), providing a safe space for creative expression that builds the power of young people's voices to tranform themselves and their communities.
$2,500 - provides free Teen NIght performance tickets and free transportation to 50 students from organizations serving at-risk communities like Oakland's Youth Uprising—giving many of then a first-time experience of the power of live theater with Lorraine Hansberry's A Raisin in the Sun in 2014.
$1,000 - supports a Teaching Artist residency to equip incarcerated youth at the Alamed County Juvenile Detention Center with performance skills like public speaking, active listening, and collaboration.
$500 - provides round-trip transportation to a Student Discovery Matinee for 200 students from schools like Oakland's Public Bret Harte Middle or Oakland Tachnical High Schools to see A Raisin in the Sun or A Midsummer Night's Dream.
$250 - allows five teachers to gain new instructional tools through an in-depth workshop in arts education techniques as part of our Educaton NIght series each Fall.
